This talk revisits Freud’s 1927 paper on Fetishism, exploring its implications for the formation of sexual identity and Freud’s concept of Verleugnung. We will consider how the fetish functions as both symptom and solution, and reflect on its enduring relevance for clinical work.

Dr. Kristina Valendinova is a psychoanalyst based in London, member of the Centre for Freudian Analysis and Research in London and the Cercle Freudien in Paris. Her work draws on Lacanian and Freudian traditions, with a particular intrest in psychosis, sexuality, and cultural transmission. She is a co-founder of Bubble and Speak, a maison verte-style drop-in for young children and their families in London.
